Evan Evans Silian Cardiganshire
« on: Friday 20 January 17 16:15 GMT (UK) »
I am trying to find information for two Evan Evans.

I have a copy of a marriage certificate of November 19 1859 solomnized at The Parish Church in the Parish of Silian between Evan Evans residence the time of marriage at Cilerwisg. His father was also Evan Evans and his profession a labourer.

His wife Sarah Evans also had a father named Evan Evans also a labourer. Sarah residence at the time of marriage is Gellygweryn.

I have googled both addresses and cannot find any information on either.

I would appreciate any information in being able to trace both parents families further back in time.

Yes, this is Dremddu, which is Creuddyn Bridge, usually seen now as part of Silian, but on the road to Felinfach aka Ystrad... Jen

Thank you Keyboard86

That was the correct information which I had already. I was looking for information pre 1859 before  they were married.

Thank you Jen for your help and your emails which have always been a great help.

In the newspapers I can see a couple of references to Gellygwenyn,  Gelly Gwenyn and Gelli Gwenyn, SIlian, which may be where Sarah was residing. I believe it may still exist

Connection to Cilgellucha farm Pencarreg

I see on the 1851 Thomas and Margaret Davies are at Cilgellucha with their son
Evan Davies who is 3 years old born Pencarreg

1871 Census Thomas Davies is widowed (still at Cilgellucha)
Evan Davies Son 22
Sarah Davies Daughter 18 (Born 1853)
Mary Davies Daughter 15
Anne Davies Daughter 12
Latitia Davies Daughter 10.

1881 Census
Evan Davies now head of the family and Single.
His sister Mary now married - Wheelwrights Wife (Evans) with two children Margaret Evans 3 and Evan Evans 4 months.
Sister Anne (Edwards) is also married to a Farmer.

1891 Evan Davies is now 42 but is now married to Mary who is 23 years old.
1901 Evan and Mary have no Children.
1911 still at Cilgelluha Evan and Mary have been married for 22 years and have two children Margaret 10 and John 4.

Sarah Davies born 1853 on the 1901 census is living with my Great Great Grandmother Sarah Evans who is Evan Evans Widow at Brynglas Silian.

Sarah Evans on most census had her birth as 1833 but on this 1901 census states 1838 and on the 1911 census at Tyngors Silian 1833 where she is living alone.

1901 Census Brynglas
Sarah Evans 1838 Head
Catherine Evans 1861 Daughter
Sarah Davies 1854 Niece

Sarah Evans on the 1861 was with her husband Evan and her eldest son Thomas at Blaenhirbant, Llanfihangel Ystrad but they also had one visitor listed Evan Davies Pencarreg aged 4. I believe he was also listed with his family at Cilgelliucha on the same census as 3 years old.

I know that Sarah is related to them as she is an aunt to Sarah Davies but I cannot find anything else to connect them. I am presuming that Sarah Davies mother Margaret was Sarah Evans sister,

Margaret Davies could also have been Evan Evans (Husband of Sarah Evans) sister
Or Sarah Evans could have been the brother of Thomas Davies (Margaret Davies husband)

There was another path leading me to Sarah Evans on the 1841 and 1851 census living at Coed 1841census (Ty Coed 1851 Census) her birth was 1838 I don't think this Sarah is my greatr great Grandmother but I also cannot rule it out.
