Trying to trace the father of Ralph Wood 1676-1755, The miller of Cheddleton Staffs. Believe he was a Colonel known as Cherry Ripe, in king James Army at the battle of the boyne where he possibly died

It includes comments:
"My Grandfather Ralph Wood died Aged 77years and was/ buried at Cheddleton near Leek March 28 1753. He was an honest Miller & ground all the oatmeal in the neighbourhood of the/ three Mills at Burslem Chedleton & Bells Hill near Shelton. he/ worked two days each Week at each Mill EW"
"My Great Grandfather Ralph Wood was a Colonel in King James' Army, he fell in the battle of the Boyne in Ireland A.D. 1690 and his property is confiscated, he was a descendant of Bishop Wood, the 72 Bishop of/ Lichfield who was suspended from his See for non residence"

A query about dates of Ralph Woods died 1753 aged 77 means he was born abt 1676
In 1690 Battle of the Boyne he would only be 14 years old
The previous link about the museum refers to 2 men named Ralph Woods. It's best to make it clear they are a father and son that you are looking for.

There seems some discrepinsis in the details found .Some say his farther is Robert Wood with no mention or link to the battle of the Boyne. The reference to Thomas (Bishop of Lichfield) are documented.and say his name is Ralph. Seem to be at a stumbling block
