Thank you for the info,
Another quick question, would the marriage certificate have any further information on it relating to their parishes or witnesses ?
Thanks

Hiya Carol - I am not sure to be honest - I have seen many records with both fathers names mentioned - but never seen witnesses as early as 1700's on familysearch.org - but Lan-opc does have witnesses on their online parish records - I think you need another member to advise you on that subject  :)

Hi and welcome to Rootschat,
According to the Sussex Marriage Index they married by licence at Hollington on 1 Jan 1735/6.  Thomas is of Hooe and Elizabeth of Penshurst.  There are no further details and it usually shows sponsors etc if they are named.

Thomas Wenam married Ann Froster of Herstmonceux 16th May 1697 at Battle.
There is a marriage for William Carey of Rye to Mary Venice 13th Feb 1704/5 at Etchingham but also one in St Thomas Cliffe, Lewes to Mary Funell 26 May 1708 so they will need further investigation.
The Lewes one has very odd parishes for them.  Mary is of Helsham which is obviously Hailsham but William is of Hoseounses which is anyone's guess!  Obviously the transcriber did not have a clue.
Ah, searching under Mary's name rather than William's shows his parish as Herstmonceux.
