Military Hospitals late 1950's
« on: Tuesday 24 January 17 13:42 GMT (UK) »
Good afternoon,
I hope this is ok to post here, I'm not very good at this yet and thought it's best to post in the beginners forum! I'm trying to find out some more information about Military Hospitals that dealt with tropical (i presume) diseases. My Great-Grandfather fought in WW1, where exactly I'm unsure as I can't find his records. Peter Bell was in the Kings Own Scottish Borderer's, all I know is that he caught a disease where a parasite grew under his skin continuously and had to have it cut out for the rest of his life. Peter Bell died in 1960/1, my mum recalls going to visit him when she was young and going by train from London, she's got a feeling he was in a Military Home in Kent then, that would have been the late 50's. Peter Bell was born in Edinburgh but stayed with family after his wife Ada died, all over the UK.
Thank you for any help,
Kathryn

A few questions

When was Peter born?

What was his wife's name?

Have you found him in the 1939 National Icdentity Register if he was in Englamd then?

Did he have any any other names?

Peter was born in Edinburgh in 1900, as far as I know in 1939 the family were living in the Edinburgh area. Peter married Ada Gordon McKay in 1929 I think. By 1939 they had 5/6children. Ada's death is registered in Leith, Scotland in 1952, I think after her death Peter started living with his children in South Devon, the London area in hospitals.
Thanks
Kathryn
