If you didn't have a copy of her marriage certificate then where did you find her father was Edward McGrath a soldier?
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Peggy ( Margaret) knew her fathers name... of course its possible her parents wernt married and that is why she could never find a birth certificate.

Well the marriage certificate has arrived .. Father was Edward Lawrence Mc Grath GPO sorter . Ive had a look about and found an Army record for him in the Horse Guards which is what we had heard. Can if find out more from Army records about him and would it show a wife and child maybe ?
