Bell & Buckby marriage 1924
« on: Wednesday 01 February 17 22:53 GMT (UK) »
Looking for info about a couple who married Oct-Dec 1924 Ecclesall Bierlow. They were Harry E Bell & Edith A Buckby. I believe Edith died aged 40 and was buried 9-2-1938 in Sheffield City Road Cemetery. I'm told Harry was younger than Edith. Hope someone can help, Thanks.

Exactly what type of info are you looking for?

Have you checked freebmd for birth registrations to to establish their ages and birthplaces?

If you are researching their ancestry - have you checked the 1911 census

A copy of the 1924 marriage cert will give their respective fathers names and occupations

Thanks for all the info. I'll follow up on it. As this is the relative of a friend I'm trying to save them the cost of the certificate.

Bell is a very common surname and without more info you could find yourself researching the wrong person so I think you need that marriage cert

I'm told Harry was younger than Edith.

There is a Harry Ernest Bell birth in 1901 in West Ham and no other Harry E's in a timescale when he would have been old enough to marry in 1924

I suggest you look for Harry E Bell in the 1939 Register (possibly to be found with eldest daughter Eileen, later Middleton, who died in 1970 so her name won't be redacted).

Younger than Edith is looking unlikely.
