Abbot's Lancaster crashed in mysterious circumstances on a remote hillside near Kingussie, Scotland, during a training flight on the night of August 31, 1944.

All the crew lost their lives.

The medals are in good condition for their age. No ribbons."

An article on Trove Au about him:
"About five years ago Mr and Mrs G. S. Abbott, of Cottesloe,
lost their only daughter when she was 21. Now they have re
ceived news that their second son has lost his life also at 21, as a
result of an aircraft accident. Flight-Sergeant Stanley Arthur Ab
bott, of the R.A.A.F., was a member of the crew of a Lancaster plane
which recently crashed on Monadhliath Mountains, near Kingussie, In
verness, Scotland, while carrying out a non-operational cross-country flying exercise. Only child now left to his parents, who live at 21 Jarrad
Street, Cottesloe, is the elder son Norman Abbot, who is
engaged in essential work at Mossman Park" http://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/78527008..

It is a shame when members of the family miss out on these things ...  Jarrad
Street, Cottesloe is in Western Australia (I've posted here incase anyone ever researches him)
