Hello,

If you have access to Ancestry, at home or the library, check out the Immigration and travel section. It has lists such as Passenger lists, Citizenship Records, and border crossings.

Put in the name concerned, and relevant information, and hopefully, you will get some sort if information.

Find My Past has a similar section.

"1760-70's"

That is the worst possible time frame.  The earliest settlers [1600s] and their descendants in Virginia and New England have been exhaustively tracked by local historical societies but, by the late 1700s, there were too many to keep track of.  There are VERY few US shipping record for that era and the ones that do exist are very short on data.  Plus, the early censuses [1790 to 1840] only recorded the name of the head of household, often just initials to go with the surname.
Wiltshire:  Banks, Taylor
Somerset:  Duddridge, Richards, Barnard, Pillinger
Gloucestershire:  Barnard, Marsh, Crossman
Bristol:  Banks, Duddridge, Barnard
Down:  Ennis, McGee
Wicklow:  Chapman, Pepper
Wigtownshire:  Logan, Conning
Wisconsin:  Ennis, Chapman, Logan, Ware
Maine:  Ware, Mitchell, Tarr, Davis

Think Erato has summed that up nicely for you.  Very, very few passenger list records/citzenship/naturalization records for that time frame - border crossing don't start that early either.
