Hi can anyone please advise how/if I can find out if someone divorced before re-marrying probably around 1947/55 Manchester.

It is a bit expensive if you don't know the exact date/court location:

Note that this only gives you the fact a divorce took place; case files for this time period don't seem to survive:

Does the second marriage certificate of the person in question list them as divorced/marriage dissolved?

A woman's surname ought to appear in the GRO index as both
maiden name
and
married name
if she was divorced.
Today I broke my personal record for most consecutive days alive.
