Baptism Jesse MULLINS
« on: Tuesday 07 February 17 21:44 GMT (UK) »
Hi,
Can anyone help me please. I am looking for the baptism of Jesse MULLINS, born at Dinton, Wiltshire about 1823. His family seem to come from the adjoining parish of Teffont. According to his marriage certificate, his father was James Mullins, a bricklayer.
Many thanks
Andy

On the 1841 census for Teffont Magna Wiltshire there is a 19yr old Jesse Mullins shown as a male servant

On the opposite page to that entry is this one but the occupations for Jesse and James do not match the profile given

James Mullins 40 agric labourer
Sarah 40
Joseph 18
Ann 20
Jane 15
Martha 12
Henry 4mths
HO107 Piece 1187/8 Folio 17 Page 29

Thank you CaroleW for your reply.
I have found the above entry but to complicate matters, there is another family James (born 1789, a gardener) and his wife Sarah. Either could be his family. I have a situation where the census doesn't appear to help and whilst I cannot find his baptism, I can only guess, which I don't like doing.
As far as the occupation is concerned, between 1841 and 1856 (when Jesse got married) his occupation could have changed, or his occupation could have been altered on purpose, who knows!
Thanks for helping.
Has anyone else got any ideas how I can proceed please?
Andy
