Richard Riddiford b. abt 1791 N Nibley; Mary Riddiford b. abt 1788 Charfield
« on: Wednesday 08 February 17 17:25 GMT (UK) »
I would appreciate some help in finding Richard Riddiford on the 1841 and 1851 censuses - and Mary Riddiford on the 1851 census.

Richard Riddiford was born about 1791, North Nibley.

Richard Riddiford married Mary Wilcox on 25 Feb 1823 in North Nibley.  She had been widowed twice.

Mary Riddiford was chr in Charfield in 1788 (parents: William Fowler and Elizabeth Selman).

Mary Riddiford is on the 1841 census living with her daughter Elizabeth Salmon Wilcox/Long and her husband Joseph Long at the White Hart North Nibley.  She is described as "of independent means".  I am not sure if that means she had separated from Richard Riddiford.  I cannot find her on the 1851 census, nor a death that seems to fit.

There is a Richard Riddiford aged 45 in the household of Aaron Riddiford 85 yrs on the 1841 census which could be his father.

But I cannot find Richard Riddiford on the 1851 census.  I have found a burial for a Richard Riddiford at North Nibley in 1853.

Just some further information about them:

Richard Riddiford and Mary had 4 children:

Mary Anne Riddiford chr 19 May 1824
Arabella Riddiford chr 27 Sep 1825
Frances Fowler Riddiford chr 08 Oct 1827
Emma Riddiford chr 17 Apr 1828.

Any ideas?

Thank you Capetown - I did not realise the Forest of Dean site covered North Nibley - so many thanks.

The burial and age for the Mary Riddiford buried in 1853 is just right.  I wish I could find her in 1851.  I can't find Richard Riddiford in 1851 either.

Thanks again
