This is a real shot in the dark for a death for Agnes and would depend on whether she remarried

Agnes O'Farrell aged 84 born 2 Feb 1897
Date of Registration Jun 1981 Chiltern and Beaconsfield  Volume 19 Page   1045

That's a good one Carole - right place and date. Agnes is quite an uncommon name.

He died Dec quarter 1980 didn't he and she died a few months later. Could it be they weren't informed of his death?

BRILLIANT Carole - you've cracked it. Can't find a marriage, so it looks as if she married in Ireland. Now I can go to bed. Well done.  ;D

Sorry if I was misleading along the line - a bit difficult to keep up.

Just to clarify the 'Son in Law - BURROWS" snippet is from 1971.
It makes perfect sense that the cheque reissued after Agnes's death is to a completely new Mrs. X name. Who must be a married grand daughter.

The Agnes O'Farrell death, (Irish marriage)  Dora Brophy marriage and Dora Burrows death certs will all be ordered and I'll up date you.
And grateful for both your time and fantastic detective work - I had spent the evening going round in circles and getting more and more confused.

In order to claim this pension at all Agnes had to state that she had never remarried since her 33 year old husband died in 1931. I will be so delighted if it turns out that she told a little fib and got the money and a new life. She deserved both.

Just found an Irish marriage for 'Agnes Madeline Morgan' also listed as 'Agnes Madeline Brophy' to Herbert John Farrell - Q3 Rathdown 1941. Has to be her.
Delighted.

So naughty Agnes claimed the pension for 40 years when she was Mrs Farrell, when did John Farrell die?  I wonder if she kept a bank account in the name of Brophy as she was paid by cheque? Interesting that she must have used the Farrell name when she came to England as she was registered as that on her death.
