Looking for the birth or baptism record of a William Ridgeon or Ridgen sometime between 1790 and 1805 in Chattisham. Parents names unknown though the fathers name could be John.
Thankyou.

There is an entry on the National Burial Index for a William Ridgan buried Chattisham 6 May 1866 aged 73 which gives a possible birth year 0f 1793

The only birth/baptism I can find is for a William Ridgin 11 Mar 1792 Rushbrooke St Nicholas parents Matthew and Elizabeth. In the notes it says born Mar 8/late Atkinson. I presume therefore that mmn was Atkinson

Thankyou for your reply. Yes that could be my man. Does your source show a birth for a Matthias Ridgen/Ridgeon around the same time (1790-1805) also in Chattisham? His Father could also be a John, again the subsequent census data varies quite a lot.

Sorry no birth for a Matthias but two death entries

Matthias Ridgen buried 7 June 1866 Ixworth Thorpe aged 72 (born c 1794)

Matthias Ridgeon June 1866 Thingoe 4a 312 age 74 (born c1792)
I suspect the GRO ref also refers to the burial as Ixworth Thorpe was in the Thingoe Registration District.

Matthew and Elizabeth did have two more children baptised in Rushbrooke. George in 1975 and Mary Ann in 1799.

Nothing at all for Chattisham.

Re the baptisms of William and Mathias. It gives both of them the same birth date, is this correct?
