Completed - Sussex baptisms look up please - William Penfold 1868,

Please can anyone help me solve a mystery?

William Penfold's MMN *should* be Pollard, like his older and younger siblings (those I can find birth records for anyway). There is a link between the Penfold and Linkhorn families, which makes this birth entry all the more interesting and which is why I would be intrigued to know what his baptism record shows.

Hi, I've had a look at the database of Sussex baptisms put together by the Sussex Family History Group, and unfortunately there doesn't appear to be any baptism record for a William Penfold that fits.

There is one for a Emma Jane Evelyn Penfold, parents George & Jane, baptised 4 Apr 1865 in West Thorney. Abode given as Pilsey Island, father's occupation labourer or navvy.

His younger sister Sarah was baptised in Hambledon, Hampshire on 15 Jun 1870 - see link http://www.knightroots.co.uk/transcriptions/Parishes_H/Hambledon/Baptisms/baptisms.htm

Couldn't see a baptism there for William either, but as the family were obviously on the move between Sussex and Hampshire in those interim years, could William have possibly been baptised somewhere in Hampshire instead?

I had found the baptism for Emma Jane Evelyn on FindMyPast but without the extra info of abode and occupation and also a baptism one for Eleanor 1860 Bedhampton but no baptism for William.  Could the Linkhorn MMN somehow be a mistake?

I will try Hampshire!
