griffin family peterborough
« on: Friday 17 February 17 10:09 GMT (UK) »
Hi could any one help with my Griffin family from Peterbough. My gt gt grandma Jane Griffin was born around 1826. All I know she was baptised at ST John The Baptist along with a brother called William in 1826 . We know  her dad was William Giffin and a mum Elizabeth. I found a marriage for a William and Elizabeth Henson around 1826 in Orton but not sure if them. Not sure but think her parents died young as daughter Jane was found in 1841 census in Cambridge where she made her home married a Sargison. Thank You.

Not quite sure where you picked up Orton from for the marriage of William and Elizabeth.  The record I am looking at has them marrying in Paston in Northamptonshire on 13 November 1826.

There is a death for a William Griffin who may be the father of Jane

GRIFFIN, WILLIAM       38
GRO Reference: 1838  March Quarter in DISTRICT OF THE WISBECH UNION  Volume 14  Page 106

That would suggest that William was born in 1799/1800 depending on when his birthday was.

YES YOU ARE CORRECT  IT IS PASTON. I THINK ELIZABETH AND WILLIAM DIED PETERBOROUGH . LOOKING AT A PETEWRBOROUGH INDEX THERE WAS A ELIZABETH GRIFFIN DIED 1826 I WONDER IF SHE DIED CHILDBIRTH. I THINK MAYBE BURIALS MAY BE ST JOHN THE BAPTIST PETERBOROUGH AS A JANE AND JAMES GRIFFIN BAPTISED THERE 1826. THANK YOU FOR REPLIES.
