The birth date given on a death cert is only as good as the informants knowledge of that person.

Mind you if it were his son giving the info you would have thought he'd have a pretty good idea.
Sometimes the actual date is correct but the year might be one or two out.

Sorry about the living relative - how do I remove it?  Harold died in 1980 and his date of birth was given as 09 july 1919.  One of the witnesses is James Alfred Bennett - the other is not easy to read

Go back into your posting by clicking on Modify and remove his name,perhaps putting "a son born 1944"?

Thanks to your tip about the witnesses it is that John Alfred Bennett born about November 1916 in Manchester has the same mother, BALDING as does Harold.  It appears Harold was born about February 1920 in Manchester and there is a marriage about August 1911 between John H Bennett and Amy Balding in Prestwich Manchester, Lancashire.  Thanks for your guidance so far.

Ahaha, jolly good,so maybe the witness trick is the key in this case.

I have found witnesses being married sisters,or even sisters fiance's (who turn out later to be married to the brides sister.

Perhaps you can find them in 1939 now.

You say here that his name is JAMES Alfred and yet later JOHN Alfred.

Please check that you have the right chap,or you could be going up the wrong path!

Me too.  Most times the day and month are correct even if the year of birth is out so I would be wary

Mothers maiden name was only shown from Sept qtr 1911 and there are 9 births for Bennett/Balding between Dec qtr 1911 - 1929

Harold's birth was registered in the March qtr 1920
