changed name changed from Harris to Lodge ?

In the 1901 and 1911 census for Derwent Street Blackhill my great grandparents name changed from Harris to Lodge, don't think it can be an error twice, whole family changed name but don't know why? Any ideas how to find a reason.

One idea comes to mind and that is to do with wills.

Did a parent or any other close member of the family die and stipulate that in order to inherit the name had to be changed from Harris to Lodge?

Another possibility is to avoid paying a debt.

Thanks for your reply, sadly my family or any relatives never had money. I had thought of something illegal or debt but where they lived everyone knew everyone else and inter-married so no chance of getting away with anything. My granddad did keep his original name and he lived in the next street.

Ah Maureen I think that is probably the answer.  I did wonder if the name Lodge was in the family somewhere.
