John Hodson  (father) was convicted and sentenced to transportation for life in July 1828. He was sent to Tasmania. He was granted a Ticket of Leave in 1851 but that is as far as I can see him.

There were a number of convicts by that name and you are looking at the wrong person.  Your John received a conditional pardon on 3 Dec 1841 and had held a TOL for 4 years.  Published in Dec 1842.

Thank-you Debra, I do have the right person. I discovered more about him after I posted that first question. I already have all the information that you kindly supplied but it's always good to have it confirmed by someone else.
I am actually after more information about his wife Elizabeth's daughter Rhoda, she is proving a bit of a challenge.
