St. Anne's Church of Ireland, Shankill
« on: Saturday 25 February 17 21:11 GMT (UK) »
My maternal third great grandparents, Thomas and Susan (Walsh) Maguire had two children, Susan Maguire and Skelton Maguire.  On one Ancestry tree it's noted that Susan Maguire was baptized on 1NOV1826 at St. Anne's Church of Ireland, Shankill.  But, her brother Skelton Maguire was baptized on 4MAR1829 at St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church, Ballymacarret, Belfast.  When I Googled St. Anne's Church it showed that it's a Roman Catholic Church and not Church of Ireland.  Does anyone know if it had been under the Church of Ireland?  Any help is much appreciated!

Thanks for the sources, I appreciate the help.  I guess now I have to find out if my ancestor was baptized at St. Anne's Church of Ireland or St. Anne's Catholic.

Transcription I've seen says that Susan was baptised in 1826 in St. Anne's CoI Belfast, Skelton in 1829 in  Ballymacarrett CoI (maybe St. Patrick's CoI?).

Also this baptism, on 7 June 1836, St. Patrick's RC Church Belfast:

Wm. John of Thos Maguire & Susan Walsh  (right page, 8th line up from bottom)

Thanks, I'm trying to figure out why one child was baptized in the Church of Ireland and the other (maybe 2) were baptized in the Roman Catholic Church.  Maybe it doesn't matter.

Wouldn't have been that uncommon for children of mixed marriage to be baptised Catholic and Church of Ireland.

Ok, that makes sense because my paternal side of the family, McConnells, also have Church of Ireland baptisms but they are all Roman Catholic now.

Hi All

Is anyone able to look for an original baptism record from this church for me?

Regards
