If there is a war memorial WW1
Placed on a land.
And then the land in later
Years is put up for sale
What happens to the
Memorial .
Is there any law to stop
The destruction of a war
Memorial.?

There are certainly instances of memorial plaques attached to buildings that have been destroyed on demolition but I've never heard of an actual war memorial being destroyed.
These were paid for by private donation & put on common land or land given in perpetuity for that purpose.
If the land is/was council owned they will re-site it.
The British Legion wouldn't stand for anything less.
If it is a private memorial paid for by a particular family for their benefit on their land then the new owner would be the owner of it & could do with it what they wanted.

The War memorial in this parish, erected in 1920, is on the triangle of land at a three way road junction.  We eventually determined that the Highways Dept. now claim ownership of the land under memorial but the parish is custodian of the monument.
The parish obtained Grade II listed status for the monument to provide additional protection; it's not a lot but it prevents action without consultation.

Our local war memorial is on ground originally donated for that purpose. Originally a committee of trustees was formed to look after the site but for some reason the British Legion seems to have taken it over.
