There is a death for a Catherine McDonald Apr--June 1855

Rosie

If that's the correct person such a pity she hadn't died in Scotland as the info. would have been so detailed (only for 1855)  :(

So confusing Annie in 1841 box ticked born in Scotland /Ireland ..1851 Peter and Catherine both  born Ireland ...1861 Peter born in Scotland  ???...Not seeing any births for the children born in Scotland ...see  a few possible for Stockton ....

Rosie,

I had the same problem with one of mine, couldn't decide if he was Irish or Scottish  ::)

It was MonicaL who found him b Scotland.

Trouble there was....my family from himself down the line were Protestant but he was b Catholic which I hadn't considered in Scottish records  :P

Rosie,

I'm the same with further back eras for Catholics in Ireland, such a palaver the way the records are set out & having to know which Parish etc.
The whole point of searching is because we don't know  ???  ;D

Just a wee note for Jennie..

It's also worth checking both Peter/Patrick as they were interchangeable probably deriving from the gaelic for Peter being Padraig.

Oh my goodness!!! Thank you all so, soooo much!! This is absolutely amazing!! Until today, I had only found Isabella and her family in the 1851 census and I had no knowledge of her family. And now look at all this!! You have all worked wonders, and I am so grateful. Thanks a million!!   :D :D :D

Tillypeg, you say you found the marriage on the Findmypast site?? Was this the marriage of Peter McDonald and Catherine Dryden? If so, are there details ... i.e. was it in Ireland, or Scotland, and in which year please?? Thank you again! Jennie

Sorry Jennie, it was the marriage of James Lanigan to Agnes McDonald in 1853 (and then I mixed up the quarter and Stan put me right ;))

Plenty for you to think about anyway!
