Burial record
« on: Tuesday 28 February 17 21:51 GMT (UK) »
Hi all I am new to Roots,I was hoping someone may help me,I have been researching  Stoakes/Rogers family tree for a long time. My great grandfather was Edward Stoakes born 1861 in Dymchurch, kent. He was alive on 1901 Ashford census but was deceased by 1909 when my great aunt married and also deceased on my grandmothers marriage cert.in 1910,but I cannot find a death record for him any where, don't know where else to look.
Thanks

Do you mean he is marked as deceased on the marriage certificate because that didn't necessarily mean he was.

The name could be mis spelt - Free BMD index for deaths is a good place to start if you haven't already looked there  :)

There's an Edward T Stoakes age 92 death Chatham Mar 1953 - a long time afterwards I know but the age fits!

Probate
Edward Thomas Stoakes of 10 Haig Avenue, Gillingham died 14 March 1953 at 114 Borstall Road, Rochester - probate Frederick Edward Stoakes, insurance auditor

I think he was the one born Aldington around the same time

Had a quick look last night and the children, even the younger ones, were scattered about in service  :(

Didn't find either parent.  As Rosie said there is another Edward Stoakes family about to complicate things.

Yes it made things complicated having another Edward Stoakes in Romney but he is down as deceased on 1909,and 2 1910 marriage certs,I have a couple of his children on 1911 census but not the wife, after all this time of searching I have finally found his daughter Beatrice on a marriage cert she was in service with her spouse in Leceister, father deceased on the cert again, but unfortunately have never been able to find Eliza,Hilda, and Ada,it's odd that my nan never spoke of these sisters when I was growing up.

I saw a possible marriage for Eliza **, I think 1903 but wasn't sure if it was the same girl - father was deceased on that one too which, if true, narrows his death down even more  :-\

**not yours this one was Bessie Eliza mother Martha so cancel that.

Which one was your nan reagan?
