Marriage Records (pre 1837)

Can anyone enlighten me? Is it possible to obtain images of Pembrokeshire marriage records without visiting the Pembrokeshire Record Office or the National Library of Wales? I have studied the websites of both organizations, but can't see a way of identifying the required record and ordering it. Am I missing something?

My interest lies in the parishes of Henry's Moat and New Moat (1754 - 1770), family name 'Howell'.

FindMyPast has no marriages prior to October 1813.  Nothing on the 'Ancestry' site either. Familysearch is no help to me because, to resolve an issue, I need to see  an image of the actual entry.

Can some knowledgeable person please advise?

I think you will find your mistaken about Familysearch as you can see the actual images if you click on the camera symbol. I have just tested it and found a Thomas Howells Marriage Banns to Martha Griffith dated 26/9/1763 Henry's Moat Pembrokeshire. You could also pay the Pembrokeshire Archive to conduct a search for you.

Hi Elen. Many thanks for your reply. Regarding 'familysearch', the camera symbol is only a link to FindMyPast. As far as I can ascertain, FindMyPast has no marriage records for New Moat or Henry's Moat prior to October 1813. By marriage record I mean the actual record of the marriage, not the record of the calling of the banns. I need to look at any signatures that may appear, i.e. bride, groom, witnesses.

Following your reply, I've been back to the Pembrokeshire Record Office website and had more success in finding my way around it. I now see that they provide a research service at £21 per hour. I was hoping that I could look up the marriage dates online and then request copies, but there seems to be no mechanism for doing this.

You could try contacting Dyfed Family History Society as they hold information on St Byrnach (Church in Wales) Henry's Moat marriages from 1755 to 1970.
I have had a search done by the Archive at Haverfordwest some years ago and was pleasantly surprised by the amount of information I received for the 1 hour search.

Hi Omega 1. I've just entered the name 'Howell' in FindMyPast marriages, 1755 to 1775, Merionethshire. It didn't come up with any New Moat marriages. The results all seem to relate to locations in Merionethshire. Maybe the problem has been sorted out? Thanks for your effort.
