I am looking for information regarding the parents of Reubin Martin Reed born in Burwash Sussex or Dallington in 1839. He is my wife's grandfather.

1841 and 1851 he's with a Baldock family. Wonder if there's any link to the Reads

Hi,
We understand that Reubin was either fostered or adopted by the Baldock family and that his surname may be that of his mothers maiden name. We would like to trace his father. The christening in Burwash may well confirm his mother

The baptism record shows his mother as a spinster.   No mention of a second name of Martin.  It might be worth looking for bastardy bonds or if the parish supported her.   Maybe even just another Reuben Martin in the area but it will be very difficult to prove his parentage.
Do you have his marriage certificate?    Who does he give as a father?    Mind you, if he was illegitimate he may have made one up.  That often happened.
