Looking for Joseph reynolds formerly from Northern Ireland
« on: Friday 03 March 17 20:05 GMT (UK) »
I am looking for information on my grandfather, Joseph Reynolds. He was born on Northern Ireland around 1900. He married Dorothy Jenkins in the early 1920s, my father was born in Belfast 22 January 1924 he is William Joseph Reynolds he also has a younger sister Irene.
My grandfather was last seen in London in 1931, the family moved there about 1928.

I have tried looking, but cannot come up with anything that tells us who he was and who his parents where.

Many thanks Lloyd Reynolds

If anyone can help, it would be appreciated, my father is 93 and he would love to know what happened to his father.

Hello Lloyd & welcome to Roots chat.  It is roots chat policy that Living persons are not mentioned on the forum which is only for researching deceased ancestors. You dont mention name of the place in Northern Ireland. You could check the 1901 & 1911 Censuses on which you should find Joseph & if he is with his parents you will then have their names www.nationalarchives.ie
If you can obtain a copy of Josephs marriage it should show his fathers name. Do you know what denomination the family were?  Rgds

He married after 1922 so his marriage is not on IrishGenealogy, but he birth probably is, however it would be best to get his father's name from his marriage first
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/civil-search.jsp

His marriage appears to be available through NIDirect
https://geni.nidirect.gov.uk/
There are two marriage results for Joseph Reynolds between 1922 and 1926 and one for Dorothy Jenkins
https://geni.nidirect.gov.uk/

Edit
I'm getting the parents and the son mixed up, Joseph's birth should of course be over 100 years so taking out the last bit.

Joseph Reynolds married 1 Apr.1922 Belfast district to Dorothy Reynolds (only first names are shown in GRONI's index).

You can view the marriage after registering & purchasing a few credits. This will confirm names of both fathers (unless illegitimate), residences at time of marriage, etc.

If Joseph was born c1900 he should be on 1911, and possibly 1901 census, but there are several possibilities and it would be very easy at this stage to trace the wrong Joseph Reynolds.

There are a few directories online 1924+ but searchable by street address rather than name at the moment. They might, however, be useful tracing the family back further once you get more information.

You can view the certificate right away on GRONI's site and it only costs a few pounds in credits  :-\

Once you get the marriage details let us know exactly what's on it (not allowed to post whole certificate- only small portion for deciphering purposes- but you are allowed to transcribe all the information) and hopefully we'll be able to help.

Am struggling to be sure I've found correct family here.

Could you please give full details from marriage- especially name & occupation of bride's father, addresses for either Joseph or Dorothy, names of both witnesses, place of marriage...
