Marguerite de Gruchy (nee Journeaux) of Jersey

My Grandfather, Joseph de Gruchy, of Hurel Road, Jersey, married Marguerite Journeaux (his 2nd wife), on 5 May 1877.  She doesn't appear in the 1881 census, and I can find no trace of her.

Joseph came out to New Zealand in 1888 with his 3rd? wife,  Elizabeth Jane,  and his daughter,  Amelia, from his 1st marriage which was to Emilie Cabot.

This is all very puzzling,  and if anyone can help me I would be delighted .

Do you know anything more about Marguerite from the marriage record?

http://www.britishnewspaperarchive.co.uk has a hit in 1879 for a death of Marguerite Journeaux, wife of Mr Joseph Gruchy - her age hasn't made it through the OCR, so you'd have to drop some coin to see the original.

Its also on F M P in Jersey Independent and Daily Telegraph July 12 1879  Lists her age as 20 yrs  10months

Hi Kay,
This is amazing to get a reply so quickly! Thanks ever so much.  Poor Joseph, I wonder if Marguerite was pregnant  / died in childbirth perhaps? Poor Amelia, only about 5 and  2 mothers dead.
The next thing I need to find out is :  when did Joseph marry Elizabeth Mauger? I don't know how easy it is to find that out.

Hi,
I've managed to find out from Joseph's death certificate that he was 34 when he married Elizabeth Jane Mauger. Based on Joseph's birth date, this marriage must have been later than May 1883.
Is there any way I can find the actual marriage details?
