I think my 3sillydogs are at the bottom at the moment, they have appeared  a few times since that feature arrived ;D ;D

Yes, I had noticed them before but I'd never paid them any mind or clicked on one until I saw my own g-grandfather show up.

I still don't see the utility of the little boxes with the most recent posts.  I've even got one on my profile page. Moreover, I have three separate search buttons at the top of the page now  -  seems excessive to me.  Keep it simple; sometimes less really is more.
