Re: German Pork Butchers in Britain - 2 - Lancaster and area

Dear all,

I am researching internment of enemy 'aliens' during WW1 and in particular the Lancaster camp. I was wondering if anyone is a relative or knows of anyone interned there. The community in Lancaster was very small, here is a list of the Butchers there:

http://surname.rootschat.com/lexicon/dbsig/dbsig-quick-search.php?dbsig_num=2&place=Lancaster#top_data

They interned boys from fishing vessels and civilians from around the area. If anyone has any family history or reports that would be greatly appreciated.

Best wishes,
Henry

Hi There,

I saw that you have an ancester of the Walls, German butchers who lived in Cumbria and also Lancaster. I was wondering if you have any family details about them and how WW1 affected them. I am researching internment in Lancaster during the war and wondering if they experienced any trauma during the time. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Best wishes,
Henry

During Christians internment, his wife, Mary Dixon, survived by receiving aid from the Salvation Army. They later became Salvationists.
