Henry Fenton McLaughlin
« on: Thursday 09 March 17 13:05 GMT (UK) »
I hope this is the appropriate place for my help request. I am looking for more information regarding my family line. At this point I am stuck at Henry Fenton McLaughlin. I can provide some information below.
D.O.B. 2/17/1882, I believe Coleraine area. Came to U.S. in 1900. Returned to Ireland at some point, married I believe, in Oct. 1909 to Louisa Macey D.O.B. 11/2/182. I think I found her in the Ireland Birth Index born in Coleraine. They both returned to U.S. in Oct. 1909. I had trouble finding him in the census data for Ireland because I believe he was in U.S. when it was taken. He had 8 children born in the U.S.

I had also visited this site http://oldkillowen.angelfire.com/page3.html and don't know if my line would be associated with the (mc)Maclaughlins mentioned.

Your help is greatly appreciated. If there are any questions, please ask and I will try to find anything that may help.

Welcome to RootsChat
To start you off here is his marriage
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/marriage_returns/marriages_1909/10033/5649408.pdf
Married in an RC church and father probably deceased as no occupation for him, his name is James.

This is the wrong board for your request but I'll ask a moderator to move it.

Louisa Macey with family in 1901 census- so, mixed marriage:
www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Londonderry/Coleraine/Ashley_Villas/1517720

Henry's father may not be dead in 1909 as neither he nor Henry have an occupation listed.

Henry Fintan McLoughlin born 17 Feb.1882 Brewery cottage, Limavady- parents James McLoughlin (distiller) & Alicia Hazlett-

I was going to change that to possibly rather than probably but I couldn't get back in, and was thinking I'll leave it at that when I do get it changed as aghdowney will probably have the tree traced back to the early 1800s by the time I get back in. :D

You could have lived all yer life in Antarctica and you would still have the McLaughlins sorted in two shakes of a penguin's tail.

Thank you for the quick replies. His middle name is most likely Fintan, not Fenton. U.S. WWI and WWII draft cards appeared to be Fintan but I was surely told from family it was Fenton.

So working with Ancestry.com, you have supported the claim of James being Henry's father. Thank you. Going futher is John and Bridget Doherty but there is no documents to support that, just member's trees. I like to have something to support those claims other than what someone else thinks.

The article I posted assumes then, Henry-James-John-James?

Thank you

Forgot to add brother Francis born Tircorran townland-
https://www.townlands.ie/londonderry/keenaght/aghanloo/tircorran/

Might be co-incidence but only McLaughlin there in 1901 is a widow named Grace-
www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Londonderry/Aghanloo/Tircorran/1523169

Possible re-marriage for Grace in 1905 but address is Limavady-
