Mini Brick wall Alice Beatrice Lilley
« on: Saturday 11 March 17 19:53 GMT (UK) »
Could someone help me find the birth index or baptism for Alice Beatrice Lilley, please.  Father Robert Daniel Lilley, mother Harriett Carroll.  I have two DOB's for her, one from her school records which is on everyone's tree, 5th May 1888.  The other I have found on the 1939 register and it is 14th May 1889.  But either way I still cannot find the birth.  I tried searching on GRO but to no avail.  I have her marriages and even her death does not really help me as there are two possibles!  She married a George Richard Vyse in 1909 and then a Thomas W Stroud in 1938.

Many thanks

See what you mean Suzy!

I can find Reg's for Charles and Robert, but nothing for Alice or Florence 1891.

Perhaps they thought girls didn't count!

Very odd.

This gets sillier by the minute!

In 1881 Robert & Harriet have a 7 month old daughter - Matilda.

In 1891 there is no sign of Matilda and no death found.
There are these children:

Robert 1882 (Birth Reg found)
Charles 1884 (Birth Reg found)
Alice 1888
Florence 1891

1901

Maud 1893
Matilda (No 2) 1896

Suzy, have you found any Birth Reg's for the other children please?
It still appears that only the boys were registered.

PS If anyone else wants to play please join in 'cos I may be missing something!  ;D

Thanks Rosie 99

I have managed to find 10 although in the 1911 census it states 11 children.  Although they still all have not been registered.  However some were Baptised and some were not.  Florence Ada was Baptised but no birth index.  I think maybe they had so many children and so many deaths they just gave up in the end!  How sad.  I do have the two brothers that appear to be twins, one died but the other one Albert Edward seems to disappear and was not on the census age 6 (1891) so don't know where he went!

Might they have confused the middle names? Can't see another birth to match
