Interesting about Eva. She obviously existed, and called herself Davis, but I've turned the GRO indexes inside out and can't find her birth anywhere. I suspect she's not actually theirs. See if you can find her on the 1939 Register and/ or her marriage or death. Those certs might shed some light. I've been researching a rambling family like this and discovered one "sister" (who always had a different surname) was actually daughter of a maternal aunt, while another "sister" who had the "right" surname was born to a paternal uncle and with a different given name to the one the family knew her by. I had to spring for the relevant certs before the family member who had grown up among them, and for whom I am doing the research, would believe a word I said LOL. She still isn't totally convinced!
