Occupation hooker any suggestions??

Hello,

I have a Memory McDonough in my tree born abt 1857
In the 1871 census he is aged 14 years and his occupation is hooker.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to what this could have been.
I persume it dosen't mean a lady of the night as he is male for a start!! 8)

Hooker  1) 16c. Reaper 2) 19c. Textile mill worker operating machinery which laid out fabric in uniform folds to required length

My hubbies gran or nan had this occupation.
I didn't know what it was Eaither. 

I think it was my hubbies  gran.
