Hi It looks like George Albany Johnstone went to New York

Passenger list for the Bellona arriving New York 7 Oct 1869

Jane Johstone 33 b Camden
Edwd Francis Johnstone aged 41/2
Alfred Hope Johnstone aged 3

1871 New York Census - New York Ward 21 District 8
George Johnston 30 Joiner Carpenter born England
Jane 30
Edward 5
Alfred 4
George Holloday 4

The above is taken from a post on the australia board. The son Alfred appears back in the uk on the 1881 census, but no parents or brother can be found. Did they die in the usa please.

The US census was done in 1870, not 1871.  You can see the census here - https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:M869-W7Y

Assuming they stayed in New York City, you can search the death records here - https://familysearch.org/search/collection/2240477

My error with the 1871 reference shellyesq - I'm so used to the dates of the English ones I must have typed it on auto-pilot!
