Gillmore (Gilmer, Gilmore) Roscommon
« on: Monday 20 March 17 21:58 GMT (UK) »
Hi, I was wondering if anyone can help me please. I am looking for a marriage for Martin Gillmore (Gilmore, Gilmer) born 1812 Ireland & Ann Dolan born 1821 in Roscommon, Ireland. I have a baptism record for their first child Michael in 1839 Loughglynn, Rosscommon. I am also looking for a birth/baptism for their second child (my 2nd g. grandmother) Mary Gillmore born about 1845 in Ireland. Their 3rd child Ann Gillmore was born 1848 in Huddersfield, Yorkshire. Any help would be very much appreciated. I have looked on Ancestry, FindMyPast, Family Search & nli, the dates I am looking for, do not appear on the latter, does that mean no records will be available at all?

Welcome to RootsChat.
At the bottom of each parish page there is a link to Irish Ancestors which gives you all known records for the parish and where they are, if they are not listed there than they probably don't survive.
https://www.johngrenham.com/records/rc_church.php?churchid=0557&parish=Loughglynn

If their marriage isn't in that parish it may be that Ann Dolan was from a different parish, marriages usually take place in the brides parish.

The Roscommon Heritage listed on Irish Ancestors which appears to have transcripts is part of RootsIreland (subscription site, transcripts only).
Using their free search for all of County Roscommon there is 5 Mary Gillmore births 1845 +/- 5 years but you can't tell from that which parish they are in.

Thank you Sinann for all your help. I have looked on nli site before but I cannot find marriage dates for Loughglynn between 1836 and 1840 listed :-[
As I already have paid subscriptions with Ancestry & Find My Past, I cannot afford to subscribe to any others. I have also looked on Family search.  :-[

They do a 24 hour one for €10 which might be worth considering at some point.
The question is why do RootsIreland appear to have a full set of records for that parish when NLI has so many gaps?
I would be inclined to contact them and ask if there are gaps in their records before even thinking of spending any money.

It may be Roscommon heritage used the registers still held in the parish and so they avoided the gaps.
It may be the filming of the registers was sloppy in that parish, you can read about the project here
http://registers.nli.ie/about or the films were lost or damaged.

I have see considerable differences sometimes in the records the parish supplied to be filimed and the transcripts on RootsIreland but I've also seen where the two record sets are identical.

Keep it on the back burner for now in case nothing else turns up.

I have found some records for a Mary Gillmore on Ancestry but the parents are not the correct ones.
Thank you again for all your help.   :)
