Chasing links to George Baxter Casey
« on: Tuesday 21 March 17 06:07 GMT (UK) »
Hi there,

My GGGGrandfather was GB Casey 1781-1867 Cork Ireland, who married Margaret Wyse and continued our family line over to Australia via their son William Henry. I've also noted a George Baxter Casey who has a large family in Queensland, who also has the same GB Casey as a father but via an Ellen Caves. Would anyone have any information as to George Baxter junior and senior?

Regards,

Bill

Hi Bill,

Sorry I can't help with info. but for others it may be an idea to give an area of Queensland where you have found connections as others will be able to relate (no pun intended) to that if even doing a 'Google' search to bring them here.

Hi Bill,

I notice there is a tree with your name and there is no mention of the following so I mention it here:
Cork Advertiser September 29th 1857 notices re marriage:
25th June 1857 St James Cathedral, Melbourne
Charles Frederick Lutman of Bodmin, Cornwall to Helena 3rd daughter of George Baxter Casey of this city (meaning Cork).

In Australįan records, I see Helena is born abt 1838.

There is also a newspaper report September 1855 re a court case between William Casey, Plaintiff and George Baxter Casey, defendant about an amount of bread supplied.
I find it a bit difficult to follow but it states that G B is father to W. It mentions a half-sister to W and a younger son, no name given.
There is also a witness Henry Casey.

Hi Heywood, Thanks for the info, it was very informative and I found some interesting links in both Ireland and Australia. How did you find the Cork Newspaper info so quickly?
