I have a marriage cert of John Evans age 23  (B 1863) Bachelor a general labourer who married Catherine Jones age 21 years  (B 1865) Spinster residence for both Penybryn Minera on 15th February 1886. John Evans father John Evans is listed as deceased a General Labourer
and Catherine Jones father is listed as William Jones a General Labourer. The witness were Jane Jones and Enoch Williams
John and Catherine Evans are listed in the 1901 census John Evans born  1863 Corwen Merionethshire and Catherine Jones b 1865 his wife as Minera Denbighshire. There children are John Edward Evans b 1887 Minera, Elizabeth J Evans b 1891 Minera, Gwladys b 1894 Minera and Idris Evans b 1900 Minera.
I am trying to find the early census for John Evans aand his wife Catherine Jones  to enable me to further their research. I am not familiar with the welsh towns and parishes and geographic layout so any help that I may receive is grateful.

Thank you malijibic for the 1901 census details. The early census records seem to be a hit and miss and I feel that the early census records are not complete. One reason why I am having problems finding records.

I have a 1871 census for a William Jones born 1833 Henllan Denbighshire his wife is listed as Elizabeth b 1836 Henllan Denbighshire. Children Margt Jones b 1857 Henllan Denbighshire, Edward Jones b 1862 Minera,  Catherine b 1865 Minera Denbighshire and Jane b 1869 Minera Denbighshire and feel strongly that this is the family of Catherine Jones b 1865 Minera.
Looking for the marriage for William Jones and Elizabeth maybe around 1857.

Hi

Did I give you the 1871 ref before as I have the page marked.  It's the only one that fits - especially with sister, Jane.

Aded - also, in 1871, the Jones family are living at PenyBryn  :)

Hi Gadget,
That is a great help I now have parents of William Jones and Elizabeth Evans. So looking for a birth of a Robert William Evans b 1875 North Wales fathers name Robert Evans a farmer. Details from a marriage cert which may be misleading as Robert William Evans entered his christian name as William for the birth of his first two children.  :D

If you can send the link for the 1871 census for Jones family living at Penybryn it would be great.
The Jones family seem to stay in one area but the Evans family of John Evans b 1863 Corwen Merionethshire and his father John Evans (dec) in 1886 is more difficult to locate. Not knowing the Geographic towns and areas of Wales makes it an impossible task for me. :(

1871 census ref is  RG10/5656/100/6
(Penbyn Cottage, Minera)

I used to have a copy of the North Wales parish maps but have mislaid them.
The best source for you might be to go to Genuki, Wales  http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/wal and work through the relevant parishes.
I have the advantage of growing up in the area.
I've had a good look fo John Evans, b. Corwen but not sure of any so far.  Will ahve another look tomorrow  :)
