Apologies for the very late reply, but I just stumbled across your post. The 1851 Census has Jonas Whitham, age 27, his son-in-law Joe Kitson (15), daughter-in-law Maria Kitson (13), son-in-law William Kitson (11) and Jonas' children Elizabeth Whitham (

, Sarah (6), John Henry (4) and Alfred E. (1). Elsewhere in the 1851 Census: Charlotte Whitham, formerly Kitson, nee Durham, is listed as married, age 42. She's a servant at the house of Thomas Ross, 68 Lucen St. Also, you may want to look into a marriage at Alverthorpe Church 2/10/44: Jonas Whitham, full age, bachelor, mason, who married Charlotte Kitson, full age, widow, "of this parish." And one final note: Mary Elizabeth Kitson of Denby Dale Rd. in Wakefield [died 1940], widow of Joe Kitson [died 1937], left 15 pounds in her will to Edith Dennison, wife of Sam Dennison. Edith was born in 1872 and was the daughter of William Dennison. What does this all mean? I'm not sure, but I hope it assists you (fyi, my ancestors are Kitsons from Thornes).
