John Humphreys 1843
« on: Wednesday 22 March 17 12:32 GMT (UK) »
John Humphreys was born in 1843 in Ludlow to Richard and Mary. In 1851 1861 he was living with his parents in Ludlow. Occ in 1961 was shoemaker.

In 1881 and 1891 he was living in Birmingham with his wife Mary and daughter Alice (1873). His occupation was now Police Constable. In 1901 still in Birmingham with his wife and retired.

Can anyone see him in 1871 and also his marriage to Mary.? Did they have more children (other than Alice). I couldn't find the deaths of  John or Mary.

Any help appreciated.

Bob

Hi

It looks like the marriage is at Birmingham Immanuel 14th May 1871
John 29 bach shoemaker 51 Holliday St s of Richard shoe maker
Mary Stanley 30 spinster 7 Stoke St  John labourer

wit Edward Humphreys and Phoodr? Sharp

a comment underneath settled with Sanders  ( a word I can't read).

Alice baptised St Thomas 16.3.1873  from St Vincent St policeman.

ps Alice looks like only child having checked new GRO index.

possible death John Humphreys Dec 1903 born 1842 6D 7. and he's buried at Key Hill Cemetery grave KH C300 burial 44802.
It looks like Mary died latter in Kings Norton Mar 1918 age 77 6D 109

She is on the 1911 census but hard to find-try Mary Humphreys Edgbaston age 69  born Gloucestershire

Hi

Thank you for looking and finding the info. I found Mary in 1911. Although I found John's death in 1903 and a link to Key Hill Cemetery I can't find the details you provided. Can you see a photo/picture of the grave?

Do you think that Mary was also buried at Key Hill?

You say you have John's which has a slightly different spelling Humphreys.

I've tried all the spellings I can think of but no luck for Mary .

Sorry
