Elusive relatives
« on: Sunday 26 March 17 21:27 BST (UK) »
Hi would love some help please.
I have been struggling to find some of my husbands relatives especially on the 1939 Census

There names are:
Peter David Gilkes or David Peter Gilkes born around 1898 Hackney London
Jessie Sophia Gilkes (NEE Pyefinch) born 1896 Hackney London
Dorothy Doreen Gilkes born Romford Essex 1926
Jean Cecila Gilkes bornRomford Essex 1933

Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks Sarah

There's a Jessie S Gilkes and a David P Gilkes in Dagenham in 1939 (both birth years fit) plus a third person in house, presumably a child and potentially still alive, so their details are blocked. No fourth person though.

Was your chap a French Polisher?

Did you possibly do as I did initially, and type Gikes rather than Gilkes in the search box?

Perhaps one of the children was staying elsewhere at time of the 1939 Register.
