Waltham St Lawrence - CROCKFORD

Sorry for jumping in on this thread - but it peaked my interest. I'm wondering if I am the DNA match the OP's husband: it says it's a good confidence match - 5th to 8th Cousins.

Lydia Crockford is my four times great-Grandmother. She married Richard Poulter 1811. I haven't been able to go further on the Crockford line yet, but it's something I'm determined to do.

I live about four miles from Waltham St Lawrence - I've been there a few times. What's interesting is there are several places in there with Crockford in the name: Crockfords Copse, Crockfords bridge and Crockfords cottages. I'm wondering if they were a fairly prominent family in the area. Also. in Binfeld - a nearby village - there is a road called Crockford Place.

I've found you on my husbands match list ! He has 3 matches with Crockford as a surname in their tree
I'm sure Lydia must be a sister or close relative of my husbands Phillip who was born in 1790 . I have his father and grand father but can't connect then to Lydia

Hi Lauren,

It does sound that Philip is a Brother (or other close relative) of Lydia. Since the online records are being so allusive, I think I'm going to make a visit to the Berkshire archives and see what I can find there.
