Looking to find out where Bernard came from , he died in 1923 in Anderston ,Glasgow aged 68. His parents named as John McGuire farm labourer and Honora Fegan . After a recent family get together the oldest McGuire says his grandad used to talk about Sligo . Any help would be great appreciated .

There’s a marriage on Ancestry for John Maguire to Honor Figan/Fegan on 3.2.1853 in the RC parish of Aughavas, Leitrim. Witnesses were James McKernan & Catherine Figan or Fegan. Leitrim is the next county to Sligo.

No townland (address) recorded in the marriage record.

County Leitrim again, have a look at the third baptism down on the right page (took place in Cloone-Conmaicne RC parish on 25 November 1854), Bernard son of John Maguire and Honor Fegan:
http://registers.nli.ie/registers/vtls000632400#page/105/mode/1up

Left page, 8th baptism down from top, son Patrick baptised on 28 November 1856:

Right page, 3rd baptism down from top, son John baptised on 28 January 1860:

(note: same address given in the above baptisms, my lamps can't make it out)

Also this 1864 civil registration for a son called Mick Maguire:

(note: Melican gets a mention here: http://www.aughavascloone.ie/content.aspx?par=6&ContentId=33 )

Thanks very much guys, the info helps greatly .I guess Sligo and Leitrim families would be intermarried  and the stories passed down . The same relative also told me his own grandfather on his mothers side lived in Glasgow but owned a home in Castledawson , Londonderry. Thanks again.

That was amazing to find! After thinking I was at a dead end with Bernard McGuire, thanks to the people (gaffy and Elwy Soutter) who spent their time researching this family, I now have Bernard (Maguire), his brothers John, Patrick & Mick and their parents marriage! MANY THANKS!
