Tracing my Essex Emberson ancestors
« on: Sunday 02 April 17 16:19 BST (UK) »
Hi Everybody, really new to this! In recent months I've become addicted to tracing my ancestors history, i find it really theraputic and so very fulfilling. I'm not really looking for any info as such but would be interested to see if there is anybody on here who shares common ancestors or direct descentents!. My Name is Emberson My direct decendents in order
Norman Emberson 1929 ( Lanchester durham)
John Robert Emberson 1890 (Lanchester Durham)
Henry Emberson(1856)(Burtons Green Halstead Essex)
William Emberson 1838 (The compasses area Pattiswick Essex)
Mark Emberon 1807 (Pattiswick Essex)
john Emberson 1781 (Pattiswick Essex)

This as far as I have got, would love to go back further if anyone has details? does anyone share ancestors? any stories? would love to hear from you. Ive been thinking about visiting Essex do you think it would be worth my while? do any of the burial sites/graves still remain and how do I go about finding this info?.....................Thank for reading will look forward to any response  :)

Hi and welcome

Have you checked the Surname Interests Board to see if anybody else is researching the same family.  You will find the link at the bottom of this page under "Tools"

Rootschat has a no living persons policy and the first person mentioned in your list above was only born 1965 so his name needs to be removed.  Click on the "Modify" button to edit your post

For info only - Norman born 1929 died 1982

To same couple: James bapt 28 July 1772
Sarah bapt 11 Aug 1776

Also seems to be a James and Ann having children baptised in same village at the same sort of times they have:
James bapt 19 Mar 1778
William bapt 15 Aug 1784
Mary bapt 31 Aug 1788

Unless it's same couple and she was Sarah Ann and used both names ???

I think this may be baptism of William (1833)
At Pattiswick: 20 Jan 1833 William base born son of Sarah Bettes (sic)
On William's marriage record he is referred to as William Emberson, otherwise Betts.

Sarah Bettes married Mark Emberson on 5 March 1833 at Pattiswick by banns, both of the parish. Witnesses were Thomas Shelley and Mary Ann Emberson. All parties made their mark.
