The Escape Challenges are really good fun rosball.

Trend started in Germany some years ago and rooms are springing up everywhere.
For teams of up to 6 people
I have completed challenges in Glasgow (2), Edinburgh, London and yes, just yesterday at Pollok House.!

EDIT:
Burnett Joseph Bushnell and Beatrice Helen Heron
1912 marriage is registered in Eastwood, Lanarkshire

BUSHNELL
BURNETT JOSEPH

HERON
BEATRICE HELEN
1912
**562/ 45

Looking at census returns from 1880-1901 it appears that James Heron was married twice.
Children  born up until 1889 were born to James with Janet Buchanan ( Beatrice's mother)
They married in Kincardine by Doune on 20  Dec 1870.

Children:
James Heron b 1871 Eastwood
John Buchanan Heron b 1873 Eastwood
Robert George Heron b 1875 Eastwood
Janet Heron b 1876 Eastwood
Beatrice Helen Heron b 1880 Eastwood
Frederick William Heron b 1882. Died 1891 Eastwood. Aged 9yrs

Wife/ Mother Janet Buchanan died in Eastwood 1890

2nd marriage in 1893 to Eleanor Elizabeth Henry.
All children born after 1893 stem from  this 2nd marriage

Childen:
William Frederick Heron b 1893 Eastwood.
Harry Morgan Heron b 1895 Eastwood
Margaret Ann Heron b 1897 Eastwood
Allan Thomas Heron b 1898. Died 1898 Eastwood
Thomas Allan Heron b 1899 Eastwood

I suspect that there were also children born after 1901
1911 census index

I think I see who William Heron was.

He was a child born to James Heron's 2nd marriage but,  perhaps he succeeded his father to become the next Head Gardener.?
Looks like James died in 1922 followed by his 2nd wife in 1928.

The fictional Escape Challenge was set in The Butler's room at 1907.
The young gardener, "William Heron" had been found guilty and sent to prison for a crime that he didn't commit.
It's up to the players to solve the clues within 60 mins and prove that the butler did it.

At 1907, the real William Heron was a child from the Heron family and was about 13yrs old
They have used his name and possibly future occupation at Pollok House for the purpose of the game ?

There are loads of old staff photos at Pollok House.
The Heron family must be in them.
There's a large group photo of the Staff Christmas Party dated 1914

EDIT:
A conundrum

The man named William Heron in the photo at Pollok House could not possibly be the son of Head Gardener, James Heron.
It definitely says WILLIAM Heron and in the pic, he is showing another, older man around the gardens

UK Commonwealth War Graves
2nd Lt William Frederick Heron b 1893 in Eastwood, of No 5 Fighting School, Royal Air Force  died ion 3 Mar 1919 aged 25yrs.
 Buried in Cairo
Son of Mr & Mrs James Heron, The Gardens, Pollockshaws.

Would seem that son, Thomas Allan Heron of the GORDON (GDN) Highlanders also died in WW1.
Died 6 Nov 1918 France
( noticed a previous thread  where the poster thought Thomas was in a London Regiment
 ( mis-interpreted as LDN)?)
http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=681391.msg5259147#msg5259147

So...
Who was William Heron in the photo hanging at Pollok House?
Did the archivist get the name wrong and is he actually James Heron the father?

James Heron b 1871, a draper's assistant was living at Pollok house in 1891 with his parents

Married Emma Gow in Eastwood 1893
1901: 7 Eastwood Cres, Eastwood
James Heron   29 b Eastwood. Draper's assist
Emma Heron   29
Margaret E Heron   3
James Heron   1

Fairly sure that Robert George b 1875 married  Kathleen Elizabeth Brennan 1904 in Eastwood and would take a guess that they are the ancestors of Pricey4848??

SP shows a 1923  marriage in Blythswood for Harry Morgan Heron  to Margaret Kennedy Muir
Also a 1926 marriage also in Blythswood for Eleanor Elizabeth Heron to Hugh Begg Semple
and a  1929 Marriage also in Blythswood, Glasgow for Margaret Ann Heron to William Galloway Calder

Robert George Heron is my great grandfather on my mums side...he moved to Manchester in the late 1930s following his daughter Janet Winifred (my grandmother) who moved here with her husband Joe Mckinnon also from Glasgow area...my mum Janet "Janice" Price nee MacKinnon was recently invited back to Pollok House to open the new servant quarters as guest of honour being related to Head Gardener James Heron...incidentally the Heron family originate from Blairgowrie....
