Lloyd family llangristiolus
« on: Tuesday 04 April 17 16:11 BST (UK) »
Hi everyone,
I'm trying to find out as much as i can about my family who were from the Llangristiolus area of Anglesey.
Ive basic information from Census records with names, DOB, employments etc.. but apart from that...Not a lot. Is anybody else on here related to my family or have come across them in their research? The family were mainly joiners but have just found John Lloyd (born around 1770) with a 6 acre farm (pigs maybe? It looks like it says bacon on the census lol) as well as being a joiner.
Thanks in advance :)

I think I have found them, is the farm called Gromlech? On the 1851 Census it states John is a Carpenter and Farmer. I can't see anything relating to Bacon it looks like 6 acres to me? ;D

Yes, it says Carpenter farmer of 6 acres.

What you have read as a letter 'b' is actually a number 6  :)

You really need to say exactly what information you've already got and what additional information you're looking for. People are more than happy to help, but it's disappointing to spend ages looking for someone in a census only to be told 'Oh, I already know that'  ;D

There is a danger of some confusion as there are two similar families showing in the 1851 census for Anglesey.
As posted by Ellenmai, at Gromlech, Llangristiolus:
John Lloyd, 81, b. Trefdraeth, Carpenter/farmer of 6 acres
Ann    "    , 75, b. Newborough
Gabriel "   , 40, b. Llangristiolus, Carpenter
Jane    "   , 34, b. Llangristiolus

At Tyddyn Roger Valentine, Trefdraeth:
John Lloyd, 80, b. Holyhead, farmer (acres K.N.?)
Anne   "   , 75, b. Trefdraeth
John    "   , 44, b.       "       , Agr lab
Richard "   , 30, b.       "       , Agr lab
Elizabeth " , 32, b.      "       , House work

Trefdraeth and Llangristiolus are neighbouring parishes.
Anglesey - Thomas:
Bodedern, Heneglwys, Llanfair-yn-Neubwll.
Anglesey - Jones:
Llanfaethlu, Llanfair-yn-Neubwll, Rhoscolyn.
Anglesey - Parry:Llanfair-yn-Neubwll.

Right, Here is what I have:

John Lloyd,  b.1770 in Trefdraeth, Carpenter/farmer of 6 acres
Ann    "    , b.1776 in Newborough
Gabriel "   ,  b. 1811 in Llangristiolus, Carpenter d.1897 in Bangor, Wales
John (jnr) ", b.1813, Llangristiolus (married to Elizabeth b.1821 in Aberfraw, d.1900, my great great grandparents)
Jane    "  , b.1817 Llangristiolus
On the Census of 1851 they lived at what looks like Gromlech

John (b1813) and Elizabeth Lloyd had the following children, all born in llangristiolus
John b.1842
Richard b.1844
Thomas b.1847
Ann(e) b.1850
on the 1851 census they lived at Graig wen with a servant and an apprentice joiner (family business)
Margred b.1854
Elinor (Ellen) b.1858
Gabriel b1860
Evan b.1863 d.1936 (my great grandad)
Elizabeth b.1867

Evan (b1863) was married twice, He had 2 sons with someone (Id LOVE to find out who) and moved to Widnes with her and the boys (Thomas b1891 in llangristiolus and Evan J b.1892 in llangristiolus, they had a third son Richard b1894 in Liverpool. His wife died and he took on a maid to care for him and the young boys who he later married (saves money i suppose!!) and had my great Aunt Edith Doreen b.1911 (i dont have much info on Edith, she ended up in an asylum in Manchester, after spending a few years living with my grandad and my mum and siblings, with what we suspect was schizophrenia. id LOVE to know more about her) Then they had my grandad, William Gabriel lloyd in 1914 d.1988
 ;)

John Lloyd, full age, bachelor, carpenter of Llangristiolus, son of John Lloyd, carpenter. Elizabeth Rowlands, minor, spinster of Henllys Fawr, dau. of Richard Rowlands, labourer.

They registered the births of the following children:
