SILLIBOURNE
« on: Wednesday 05 April 17 06:10 BST (UK) »
I am descended from STEPHEN SILLIBOURNE from Mersham
He was born in 1746 at Great Chart, parents THOMAS SILLIBOURNE and ELIZABETH HEARNDEN
He died in 1828
I have done extensive research on this family, and have got this family back to 1600.
I don't think there is much else I can do.
I live in Australia and am planning a trip to England in August. I would love to meet other Sillibourne descendants, so if anyone is interested, please get in touch.

Regards
Lorayne

Don't give up.  I've been amazed by what there is online for Kent prior to parish records.

Dear Bearkat
What a great document!!! Thank you very much.
Mr. Sillibourne  mentioned was Stephen Sillibourne b. Great Chart Son of Thomas Sillibourne and Elizabeth Hearnden.
Stephen married Esther Gorham and the Gorhams were Quakers, Stephen was one of their sons.
After Thomas Sillibourne (Stephen's father) died Elizabeth nee Hearnden married James Finn who died in 1780.
Mary Sillibourne daughter of Thomas and Elizabeth Hearnden married Samuel Earle at Kingsnorth.
So it is a very important document for me.
I get a little bit on these families every few years!!!!!

Many thanks again
Lorayne

There are some SILLIBOURNE entries in the parish records for Ashford

http://www.kentarchaeology.org.uk/Research/01/ASH/01/00s.htm

FreeREG also has a few early SILLIBOURNE (& variants) records, mainly at Great Chart.

https://www.freereg.org.uk/search_queries/58e8e789f4040b9b0227fb6b

The earliest is a marriage for Elizabeth SILLYBOURNE to William COVELL  7th Mar 1613/14  at St Margaret's, Canterbury.

Just to add

Elizabeth was a widow.

See the marriage licence (SILLIBORNE)

There's also a marriage licence for a Thomas SILLIBORNE

Hi.

This is not on your subject but I am wondering if you have records for Great Chart is there anything for Nicholas Chapman & his wife Mary? who had at least one child Mary 1664.

Great Chart Records are on FreeREG.  https://www.freereg.org.uk

They also had a child, Allice baptised 18th October 1668. There is a note to say Mother widow as father lately deceased.

There is a burial for Nicholas 31st May 1668. He was a householder.

Hi.

Thanks very much for that. I checked with the site you kindly directed me to & it showed Nicholas married to  Sarah Poyner 1662 but no Mary. Perhaps Sarah died & now to find if they had children

Cheers,

Gary.
