Seeking baptism of William Chele who died Old Shoreham 1624
« on: Wednesday 05 April 17 08:56 BST (UK) »
William Chele is estimated to have been born between 1585 - 1595 although there is nothing more scientific to that date other than the deaths of his wives during their early marriage in 1615 and 1622.

Both wives and William were buried at Old Shoreham however there aren't any earlier burials of Cheles [various] so its possible William moved there rather than being born there.

It could also be the records for Old Shoreham are no longer available so a stab in the dark here.

All assistance much appreciated.

Hello SR,

Thanks for that.  I am wondering if a man from a very poor family could become a yoeman and leave a Will in  1624 reflecting a man of significant means.

I'm also wondering if he had family who  were poor, other than his 3 daughters wouldn't he have made some provision  for them???  I am aware that families can be in conflict so temper my thoughts likewise....

Your thoughts?
