The family did seem to move around a bit so it wouldn't surprise me if he died elsewhere to where his wife died...

Flora 1855 b Torthorwald

1855 certs. are a mine of extra info. not on any other certs.
1st year of Statutory Registration & the only year to contain those extras.

Henrietta Jane 1857 b Torthorwald

Jess 1861 b Tinwald

Found these which may be of interest as there are Hyslop's named with addresses which may help to determine possible parentage too (both from same site but the home page is worth a visit as it lists quite a few things;

The Horse Tax page list the name as Hislop

Possibly Andrew?

HYSLOP ANDREW
Tenant Occupier
FARM OF NETHER AUCHENREACH, URR
1875

Same place, different spelling;

FARM OF NETHER AUCHENREOCH 1876, 1885, 1893, 1894, 1895

Don't see him there after 1895 (if it's him) but may be elsewhere as there are a few Andrew Hyslop's but being a Ploughman this one looked more likely with it being a Farm?

The Nether Auchenreach Andrew is not him, they are both on censuses in 1871, also the Auchenreach Andrew is the one that died in 1912. For a long time I thought they were the same person, but I'm pretty sure not.

have you eliminated this baptism in 1821?

https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:XYMB-6FN

Possible 1841 census entry for him in Irongray
https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:VYCM-KLB

Possible 1891 census for him boarding in Urr, Dalbeattie aged 74, widower, labourer which then ties in with a death reg aged 75 in Dalbeattie in 1893, registered by a neighbour so details of parents not given, but noted as ag lab and widower of but again no name given.

My problem is that he is consistent with age 1824/1825 across the three censuses that are definitely him.

However, the 1881 seems possible.

Not convinced about the 1891 census.

The baptism I will investigate further, it seems this family had a lot of children, so I may be able to track them down.

Thanks

In addition to Haugh of Urr, there is also the village of Bridge of Urr; the parish of Urr covers the Dalbeattie area.
Fairly close to Bridge of Urr is Little Park Far, known colloquially as Wee Park.
Not sure if any of this helps, but thought I'd contribute as it's very close to where I live.
