Kelly's Directoery for Histon & Impington
« on: Thursday 06 April 17 15:06 BST (UK) »
Does anyone have access to any Kelly's directories for Histon / Impington Cambridgeshire.

I am trying to establish the year that Robert Webster and family moved to the Bakers/Grocers shop at No 1 Cambridge Road Impington. I believe he had the shop from about 1959 till 1978.

Up until 1932 Ernest Webb had the shop and in 1933 (Kelly's) and 1939 (census) Owen S Taylor was listed as the shopkeeper.

Any details between 1939 and 1960 would be useful.

If you have access to Ancestry, then try the Telephone Directories.  R Webster is certainly there in 1975 - Station Stores, Cambridge Road - Histon 2412.

Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

He's definitely there by the time the 1960 directory is produced.

1958, he's there.  No directories then until 1955 and there is no entry at all for Webster with a Histon number.

BB  Thanks for looking. A record for 1958 looks good. My source is a gentleman well past his 80th birthday so his memory is not bad. He thought that the Webster's were previously at the Wheatsheaf  Pub on Huntingdon Road, Cambridge before they moved to Impington .... the pubs long gone I'm afraid.

Thank you for that. Confirms he was at the Pub before moving to Impington in about 1959.
