Finding (*) Dunwoody
« on: Monday 10 April 17 15:05 BST (UK) »
Can you help find my cousin (*) Dunwoody please. He was born in Dublin, Ireland on July 26th 1950, his mother's name was Violet Beatrice Dunwoody and we believe he may have travelled to Sweden to be adopted. Adoption was not legal in Ireland at that time, I can't be told if a passport was issued in his birth name or even if he ever left Ireland. It is very frustrating. All my cousin and I want to do is assure him he was never forgotten, his mother didn't want to give him up but was given no option. She loved and yearned for him a great deal. Has anyone any advice on how to proceed in Sweden when looking for this type of information in Sweden - even some social media web site would be a start?!
Many thanks for taking the time to read this, best regards.

I think the biggest problem here will be that in all probability if he was adopted, his name will have been changed. Unless he has been told what his original birth name was, I'm not sure how you would be able to find him.

Just in case the name wasn't changed, I'm afraid that you will have to remove it from here as Rootschat has a no living person policy and if he was born 1950, the chances are he is still alive. Hopefully some one will be able to advise you about research in Sweden.

Hi Vivian

His name has been removed.

I assume by the wording that his mother has passed away?

If she has, I can leave her name there.

You never know, he might google (or other internet search engine) her name and get a link to this topic and reply.

If she is still alive then I'll have to remove her name as well.

Which just leaves us with his surname and date and place of birth.

Dawn
