Photos by De Freyne of Liverpool for dating please
« on: Tuesday 11 April 17 19:06 BST (UK) »
I have a set of photographs by De Freyne of Liverpool which appear to be of the same family, but perhaps taken at different times.  I wonder if anybody could put an approximate date on them please.

I'm also posting a picture of the backs of four of the pictures in case that helps.

Thanks for looking
Sandra

Hi...The stamp box with a star motive of Crown Studios dates between 1913 and 1929.

Handypandy, thank you very much for doing that.  They look so clear now, you're a magician!

Thanks also Treetotal for the dates.  Later than I thought but it'll give me something to go on when searching through my tree.

Thanks again
Sandra

Lovely photos, and nice restores.

The hats, dresses and collars put these photos right at the beginning of the time window Treetotal gave you, right around 1913. The hats start getting smaller and the collars shorter from now on, into the war, and I have a photo of another lady in a very similar outfit with the short oversleeves definitely dated at 1912.

Cheers,

Thanks China, that should help narrow down my search.

The restores are marvellous aren't they?

Cheers

My great-great-grandfather Fred Barnes was the proprietor of De Freyne in Liverpool. Comparing to the family portraits we have that were taken at the studio, and the age of my great-grandmother at the time of taking, I would also agree around 1910-1913. Hope that helps :) . Happy to post some if you want to see
